THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPERLY ESTIMATING YOUR PROJECT

OUR ESTIMATES ARE ALWAYS FREE!

With over 20 years of experience in the painting business and numerous painting-specific seminars and workshops under our belt, we have developed an estimating protocol that eliminates all guesswork. Our method enables us to arrive at a fair and accurate price for every type of project--the right price for success.

Our estimators are available to meet with you on Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm, depending on scheduling. We are able to make appointments after hours if necessary. We are also available to do a drive-by estimate for exterior jobs, doors, decks, etc. if you are not available to meet with someone. Please let us know any pertinent details such as other construction work that may be going on prior to painting, or deadlines for work to occur. You will receive your estimate within 2-3 days, depending on the scope of the work. Our estimator will be happy to hand-deliver and review the estimate with you, answering any and all questions and concerns. We can also send it by mail, fax, or e-mail.

Alamo Painting has formulas to calculate the manpower and materials usage required for every task performed from the moment we first arrive on the job site to begin a project through to completion. By leaving nothing foreseeable to chance or guesswork we know that our bid price reflects every element as accurately as possible so as to ensure success, satisfaction, and peace of mind. Our precise estimating procedure is based on the following:

  • All surfaces to be prepared and painted will be accurately measured and assessed as to the exact nature of preparation needed prior to top coating.

Measuring areas to be prepared and painted is important for several reasons. First, this allows us to order just the right amount of paint and sundries for your project. This way you’re not being charged for products that will not be used on your house.

Accurate measuring also gives us the ability to apply our production rates to your project. This will tell us exactly the hours your project will need to be completed properly in accordance to industry standards.

Alamo Painting tracks the time it takes to complete related tasks. This way you don’t pay more than market value for your paint job and you avoid the unpleasantness of dealing with a contractor who is losing money. Although painting and refinishing is not rocket science, it is a science and requires a comprehensive understanding of the products and procedures employed.

Because of our exact calculations and planning we avoid underbidding, a common occurrence in the painting industry. This gives you, the homeowner, the confidence that we will never cut corners, use less than premium grade products, try to negotiate the contract upwards, or engage in any unethical behavior to compensate for having underbid the work. This also ensures that we never resort to 'padding', adding extra hours to the price in case we overlook something or are uncertain how long any given procedure should take.

  • Extensive and detailed preparation will be undertaken to remove multiple failed coats of existing paint and to properly prepare surfaces for priming and topcoating.

At Alamo Painting, we are trained to identify any existing or potential future problems that may poorly effect your paint job. Ask us about remedies for any of these common paint problems:

Blistering ∙ Blocking ∙ Burnishing ∙ Caulk Failures ∙ Cracking/Flaking ∙ Foaming/Cratering ∙ Lapping ∙ Mildew ∙ Mud Cracking ∙ Picture Framing  ∙ Poor Flow/Leveling ∙ Roller Marks and Stipple ∙ Roller Splattering ∙ Sagging ∙ Surfactant Leaching ∙ Wrinkling ∙ Yellowing ∙ Alligatoring ∙ Chalking ∙ Chalk Run-Down  ∙ Dirt Pick-Up ∙ Mottling ∙ Fading ∙ Frosting ∙ Peeling ∙ Nailhead Rusting ∙ Poor Hiding ∙ Poor Scrub Resistance ∙ Poor Sheen Uniformity ∙ Poor Stain Resistance

When estimating your project you can be assured that we will alert you to any of these defects in your current paint job. Based on extensive research and experience, we will explain exactly how we will eliminate existing defects. This careful preparation and attention to details ensures the highest quality results, and provides you with years of increased service life.

Proper preparation is key to the success of every painting project.

"Our house looks so bright and clean with its new coat of paint! Also, when Brad made his initial visit he detected some dry rot that needed repairing that no other prospective painter found. It is people like you and companies like yours that keep up our confidence in America".
